We built Dooties because no one else got it right.

It started on a normal afternoon in New York City. We were on a walk we had taken a hundred times before when our puppy let out a yelp we will never forget. She had stepped on a hidden piece of broken glass on the sidewalk. There was blood on the pavement within seconds.

We rushed her to the emergency vet. The bill cost us thousands. Watching her limp around the apartment for weeks, unable to play, was so much worse. That single walk changed how we thought about every step our dog ever took outside.

So we did what every dog parent does — we bought shoes. Then more shoes. Then more. We tried every brand we could find. Our dog hated all of them. Every single pair was stiff, uncomfortable, and made her walk in this strange, high-stepping way that clearly hurt her mobility. She would freeze in the middle of the sidewalk and refuse to move. Some pairs fell off within a block. Others rubbed her paws raw.

And we needed a real solution. We travel down to Florida regularly, and the pavement there gets hot enough to burn a paw in seconds. Hot concrete in the summer, glass and salt up north in the winter — our dog needed protection everywhere we went, and nothing on the market actually worked.

That is when we decided to stop searching and start building. We wanted a dog shoe that our own dog would actually wear without fighting us. Something that hugged the paw like a sock so she could move naturally — but protected like a real boot against glass, gravel, salt, and scorching pavement.

Dooties fits like a sock and protects like a boot. That is the whole promise.

Every pair we ship is the shoe we wish we had on that walk in New York. If it is not good enough for our own dog, it does not leave the warehouse.
